Scientists in Belgium have discovered a new species of carnivore: Dormaalocyon latouri. Fossils from this link to modern day carnivorous mammals, dating back to the Paleocene Era over 55 million years ago, were discovered at the site in Dormaal, Belgium. Vitamin E Benefits Alzheimer’s Patients

On Jan. 1, research published by The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed Vitamin E to be beneficial to patients in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The study included 613 participants and showed a 19 percent delay in the clinical progression of the disease when compared to the placebo group. On Friday, Chinese Health Authorities ruled out the Hepatitis B vaccine in the deaths of nine infants. Eight other deaths are still under investigation. According to Li Guoqing, Secretary of the Chinese Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), an investigation showed no productions issues that would affect the quality of the vaccine. Today the Russian court in St. Petersburg ruled that Greenpeace activist Colin Russell will continue to be detained until February. The pre-trial detentions of Arctic 30 activists are expected to be extended for a three month period.
